Obituary

Robert Davis affectionately known as “Bobby” and “Dave” was born February 10, 1944 in Cincinnati, Ohio to Bessie Lee Cook and William Richard Davis. Through this union, they had Paul, Bill, Delores, Ruth, Harold, Johnny and Bobby, the youngest of his siblings.

Bobby was a go getter and a natural adventurer who always wanted to see the world. At a young age, he joined the United States Navy and faithfully served from 1963 to 1967. Post military, Bobby completed his degree in Business Administration from the California State University of Dominguez Hills. He was a pioneer in the technology and aerospace industry and worked for North American Rockwell, Nashua Corp. and retired from Hughes Aircraft Corp. after 21 years. Bobby held senior level positions and was a widely respected professional that even in retirement, Hughes wanted back for his expertise.

Dave’s greatest joy came when he met Winfred “Charlene” Brown, whom he beautifully referred to as “Sweet Pea” and “Big Mama”. They quickly fell in love and were married for 49 years where they raised a beautiful family in San Pedro and Carson. Dave and Sweet Pea also opened their hearts and home to countless children as foster parents. Dave is now joined in heaven with his beloved Sweet Pea / Big Mama.

Dave’s family meant the world to him and they always came first. He was the model example of a father, provider and family man. Dave worked hard and during his spare time loved fishing, playing Bid Whist, hanging out with his friends at the donut shop and traveling when he could.

Bobby was called home on March 6, 2020. He leaves behind precious memories in the hearts of his five daughters; Loni, Kelly, Shawn, Lori, Dawn; two sons, Willie and Zachary; 15 grandchildren, Melissa, Brittany, Christopher, Ryan, Dexter, Brett, Breanne, Jozalynn, Zi’yah, Zah’niy, Dakota, Micah, Laylah, Matthew, Mariah, and one great-grandson Loren. He was a father figure to many, including Michael and Roderick. Bobby leaves behind his two brothers; Paul and Harold; one brother in law, Joseph Davis; three sisters-in-law, Jackie, Barbara, and Patricia; son-in-law, Emil as well as a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and close friends who will miss him dearly.
