Mrs. Janet Elizabeth Windom-Foston

Janet Elizabeth Windom-Foston was born on August 20th, 1950 to Homer Windom Jr. and Elizabeth Cruel Chandler-Windom in Shreveport, Louisiana. The oldest of three children, Janet excelled in school and enjoyed giving back through community service. Janet graduated from Compton High School in 1968 and attended Whittier College followed by the University of California of Los Angeles, where she obtained her Bachelor's Degree in Political Science in 1973. Janet would eventually meet Alexander Foston Jr. and they would marry on May 6, 1978. Their union produced one child, Elizabeth Alexa Foston, in June of 1979. Janet dedicated her life to God at an early age and was very spiritual which she shared though her positive and pleasant demeanor. She was always willing to help others and valued education. She would later obtain her Master's Degree from Cal State University, Long Beach in 2001. After working for Southern California Edison and the County of Los Angeles, Janet relocated to Northern California with her family. During this time, she worked as an Instructor for the University of Phoenix where she taught in the classroom and online. Teaching kept Janet motivated to ensure that her students were successful in their educational pursuits. Janet continued to teach until God called her home on November 14, 2012 as she succumbed to her on-going battle with cancer. Janet leaves to mourn her husband, Alexander Foston Jr. of Sacramento, CA; her loving daughter, Elizabeth Foston of Benicia, CA; her loving grandson, Sovann Touch of Benicia, Ca; nephews Justin Luckett of Reno, NV and Derrick Luckett of Las Vegas, NV; "Son-in-law" Sam Touch of Tacoma, WA, and a host of relatives and friends. She is preceded in death by her sister Doris Faye Windom-Luckett, brother Homer Windom III, and parents Homer and Elizabeth Cruel Chandler-Windom.
