Audrey Marilyn Alpern (Miller), resident of Laguna Woods, California passed away peacefully at Hoag Hospital surrounded by family and friends on Friday, March 23, 2018 after a short and courageous battle with complications following a stroke. Audrey was 85 years old. Audrey is survived by her son, Laurence Burg (Elon Parker) of Temecula, California; Laurence's first wife Beatriz Foertsch (Tom) of Laguna Woods, California; grandchildren, Kenneth Burg (Nicole) of Irvine, California, Michael Burg of San Jose, California, Allie Rose Parker Burg of Temecula California; great grandchildren, Eliana, Moriah, and Kavanah Burg of Irvine, California. Audrey is preceded in death by her parents, Harry and Rosalind (Lowenthal) Miller of Los Angeles, California, her husband, Edwin Alpern of Huntington Beach, California, and her brother Alan Miller of Irvine, California. Audrey was born on May 6, 1932 in Cleveland, Ohio to Harry and Rosalind Miller. The family relocated to Los Angeles, California when Audrey was a young child. She graduated from Fairfax High School in 1950. She resided in the Los Angeles area for many years and worked as a bookkeeper for various establishments, including California Sports Incorporated who, at the time, owned the Los Angeles Lakers, Los Angeles Kings, and the Forum. She and her husband, Edwin, relocated to Huntington Beach, California in 1970. Following Edwin's death, she relocated to Laguna Woods, California in 1998 where she lived independently for the remainder of her life. Audrey was a vivacious soul. She enjoyed playing Mahjong with her friends throughout her entire adult life. She was once a member and chairperson of the Niftys social club at Laguna Woods and enjoyed socializing and traveling with friends, including Al Nameth (deceased), her very special gentleman friend. She was a caring, thoughtful, and organized woman who never forgot a loved one's birthday, anniversary, graduation or special occasion. She was a generous mother and grandmother who was supportive and encouraging of her family's educational, business, and personal pursuits. She very much enjoyed the company of her three great granddaughters over the last 5 years, always attending to their desires. She will be deeply missed. Graveside Memorial Services are scheduled for Tuesday, March 27, 2018 at 1:00 PM at Pacific View Memorial Park, 3500 Pacific View Drive, Corona Del Mar, California 92625, with a reception to follow at Clubhouse 5, Room 1, 24262 Punta Alta, Laguna Woods, California, 92637. Rabbi Ben Kamin will preside over the ceremony. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Audrey's life.
