Leon R. Morgan was born April 5, 1922 in Detroit, Michigan and went home to be with the Lord May 17, 2020.
Leon is survived by his two son’s and their families. Her oldest son and spouse, Mike & Lupe Morgan. Her youngest son, Larry & Grace Herndon Morgan. His six Grandchildren, Mikecoe, Elyssa, Linda, Carissa Nicole, Shavon, and Taurean Morgan. Four Great-Grandchildren, Makaila Rose, Brailey, Micah, and Lexi Morgan.
Leon exemplified his character as a dedicated, hardworking, and forever devoted husband, father, son, and friend. Leon was a Veteran of the United States Army World War II. He was employed for the City of Los Angeles at the L.A. Zoo for 25 years and the Detroit City Zoo for 10 years. He was a head zookeeper that many looked up to.
Leon and his son, Mike, worked-out at 24 Hour Fitness in Chino 7 days a week. You would find Leon walking on the treadmill and riding his recumbent bike with a smile on his face. On many occasions Mike, Leon and Mikecoe would be at the gym at the same time cracking jokes on each other. His hobbies included going to Vegas to play all night only to greet his family in the morning for breakfast. Leon enjoyed playing cards, watching sports, and is a fan of the Los Angeles Lakers. He is a true example of living life to the fullest.
Leon will always be remembered as a loving, kind and devoted husband, father, son, and friend. He will be greatly missed by many.
