Gary Roger Murphy, a beloved friend and cherished family member, passed away on May 9, 2023, in Ontario, Ca. He was born on November 27, 1946, in Los Angeles, CA, to Stanley Murphy and Virginia (Wood) Murphy. Gary's parents and two older sisters, Nancy and Paula, preceded him in death.
Gary possessed a remarkable gift for connecting with people from all walks of life. Whether it was someone he started chatting to while waiting in line or someone who worked at one of the restaurants he frequented, he had a knack for making lasting impressions and wonderful friends. Once you crossed paths with Gary, his warm presence and unique character were impossible to forget. His impact reached far and wide, leaving an indelible mark on the lives of those who had the pleasure of knowing him.
A proud member of AA since 1969, Gary found strength and support within the fellowship. He embraced the principles of recovery, inspiring others with his unwavering commitment to sobriety.
Left behind are the many individuals whose lives were enriched by Gary's presence. Felicia whom he shared a profound love that spanned 23 beautiful years. Each day they spent together was a blessing, filled with laughter and love.
Gary's legacy extends to his children: his son Chase and his daughter Pricilla and her husband Ronnie, who lovingly welcomed Gary's grandson Dillinger into the world. The birth of his grandson Dillinger brought great joy to Gary’s life and the upcoming arrival of another son in June brings both hope and joy to the entire family.
He embraced his role as a father figure, grandfather, and role model to Felicia's children: Jay (Sally), Noel (Lance), Jeff (Emily), and Jeannette (Matt). His influence shaped their lives, fostering love, kindness, and resilience. Gary's impact will be carried forward through these generations.
The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to Granddaughter Sylvia "CeCe" for her invaluable assistance and dedication in organizing Gary's memorial. Jay and his family for opening their home to Gary and Felicia the last year and half as they travel back and forth to hospital visits. Their love and support during this difficult time have been a tremendous source of comfort.
Gary Roger Murphy touched the hearts of many, leaving behind a legacy of love, friendship, and many, many great stories. His memory will forever remain etched in our hearts, and his spirit will continue to guide us as we navigate life's journey. May he rest in eternal peace.
